Scott R. Gane, CPP
Vice President, Protective Service GroupScott Gane is the Vice President of the Protective Service Group at Huffmaster. He is responsible for the day-to-day management of the administration, operation and the financial health of the division. He is also responsible for the security-consulting line of business for the company. In that capacity he manages security program evaluation, corporate policy and procedure development, training, federal security compliance initiatives (with an emphasis on CFATS, MARSEC and CTPAT), corporate investigations, security risk, threat and vulnerability analysis and business risk management. He is the former president of Gane Security Solutions, LLC, a Michigan corporation with similar services.
As the former Senior Security Manager at General Atomics of San Diego, CA, a diverse company which has interests in several vertical markets (Nuclear, Defense, Energy, Aerospace, Chemical, Bio Fuels, Mining, Pharmaceuticals, and critical manufacturing), Scott provided supporting security deliverables consisting of physical and information technology security, risk identification and mitigation, personnel and executive protection, information assurance, loss prevention and internal investigations, national industrial security programs and related services.
He is a former Vice President of AlliedBarton Security Services of King of Prussia, PA, who heading up the specialized service offerings in the Chemical, Petrochemical and Energy (including Nuclear power) areas.
As the Regional Vice President for Initial Security of San Antonio, Texas, Scott was responsible for the overall management and corporate oversight of ten branch offices. In addition, he provided risk identification and mitigation, technical support and design configurations for loss prevention (security, fire and safety) systems at various client locations throughout the country.
Scott also worked as the Director of Loss Prevention for Tootsie Roll Industries in Chicago, Illinois. He developed their first comprehensive physical security and safety program for their 2.1M square foot facility in Chicago, as well as physical security programs for the rest of their global manufacturing, distribution and sales operations.
Additionally, Scott was the Senior Security & Fire Prevention Administrative Compliance Coordinator for the D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant in Bridgman, Michigan; He is also a veteran of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, serving as one of the first firefighters/paramedics in the department and later as a sworn police officer.
Scott is a 20-year ASIS International member and currently serves as the Chairman of the Fire & Life Safety Council within the organization. He is board certified in Security Management and holds the title of Certified Protection Professional (CPP). He also served as a committee member for the development of ANSI Standards on Workplace Violence Prevention and Intervention, Risk Assessments, and Investigations, that were subsequently published.
Scott is a frequent speaker on safety and security-related subjects and has spoken at businesses, colleges, universities, seminars and organizational meetings throughout the country. He has been published in several industry trade magazines and has made numerous radio and television appearances on various security-related topics.
Operations ManagerGeorge Patak has over 20 years of experience spanning threat and risk assessment, physical security audits and CPTED master planning, incorporating architectural design and systems integration with physical security.
He is the former Director of Security for a tier-one automotive supplier and has over 26 years of experience as a police officer for Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and the Ann Arbor, Michigan Police Department specializing in Crime Prevention.
After a quarter century of public service Mr. Patak entered the field of contract security services where he participated in the development, operation and administration of contracted physical security services in the State of Michigan.
He has served as a consultant to city planners, business leaders, property developers and architects. His work focuses on preventing crime, violence and nuisance behavior through the intelligent design and programming of the built environment and judicial application of physical security service.
Mr. Patak holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, is a graduate of Wayne State University, the Detroit Police Academy and the Crime Prevention Institute at the University of Louisville.
He is a Member of ASIS International and The Crime Prevention Association of Michigan and has been published in The Congressional Record, The Detroit News and in journals for ASIS International and The Crime Prevention Association of Michigan.
George was the recipient of the 1993 FBI Directors Community Leadership Award for his work in crime and substance abuse prevention.
VirSec CoordinatorChris Magnan is the Coordinator for the VirSec Operations center. He began his security career as a security guard in the busy Las Vegas Casino scene and worked his way into corporate security and investigation work.
Prior to his role here, Chris worked as a Security Specialist in corporate security for Security Industry Specialists (SIS), a company based out of Culver City, CA. While working for SIS he was assigned to the Amazon.com account in a 26-story high rise in downtown Detroit. When the client contract was transferred to Securitas Security Services, Chris continued at the Amazon.com account as the Site Security Supervisor/Lead Investigator for Securitas.
Previously, Chris worked on the Corporate Investigations Team at Target as an Investigations Technician/Associate Investigator, in which he handled large-scale ORC theft and fraud cases, as well as conducted security incident investigations at the national level. During his career on the Corporate Investigations Team he became a member of the Detroit Metro Identify Fraud Federal Task Force (DMIF) until it’s disbandment in 2009. DMIF operated for 10+ years and consisted of members from Auburn Hills PD, Troy PD, Macomb County Sherriff’s Department, Michigan State Police, FBI, Secret Service, US Postal Inspection and Target, which was the only outside Law Enforcement entity that was part of the task force.
Chris graduated with honors from Macomb Community College with an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice.
